Grundfos has reported that 42 per cent of its total pump sales value in the commercial building sector in 2008 was due to variable speed pumps. This is an increase of over 10 per cent over the previous year.
The manufacturer attributes this in part to the recent introduction of energy performance certificates for non domestic buildings, which the company says has increased emphasis on energy saving equipment.
The company said: “Grundfos Pumps have been actively championing variable speed pumps for many years. The range of variable speed options has increased each year and although sales have continued to increase, their take-up, hasn’t always lived up to the S to E (standard to electronic) programme goals we set ourselves. 2008 results, however, show a good increase in variable speed sales.”
