SIG plans further European growth through Air Trade Centre

Sheffield based SIG Plc is looking at developing sales in Spain, Hungary, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria after completing the acquisition of Air Trade Centre International.

From its base in Holland Air Trade Centre International has built up a strong presence across Europe for the supply of equipment and components for the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry.

SIG plc is a leading specialist supplier of insulation, roofing, commercial interiors and specialist construction products in Europe, with existing activities in air handling and air treatment, notably in France.

Since its establishment in 1994, the Dutch company Air Trade Centre International has pursued a strategy of continuous development in existing and new European countries. In 2003 the turnover was 26 Million Euros, and this increased to more than 64,5 Million Euros across 12 countries in 2007.

A company spokesman said: “SIG recognises the developing importance of Air Trade Centre International in the European Air handling market, and has identified significant opportunities for further growth in Air Trade Centre International’s distinctive product portfolio and market approach.

“The current management team of Air Trade Centre International fully support the acquisition and will continue to lead the further development of the company.

“Both SIG and Air Trade Centre International are confident that this strategic operation with ambitious targets backed by the determination of the SIG board and the senior management team of Air Trade Centre International will result in an accelerated growth for the company.

Jan van Rij, Air Trade Centre Group Managing Director, Dany Gobert, Group Operational Director and Ian Scholten, Group Financial Director, will continue in their roles.
