WF Senate announces distribution rights to Google-owned Nest products

Following the distribution agreement between WF Senate’s parent company Rexel and Nest Labs, WF Senate – a UK leader in the distribution of electrical supplies and services – is pleased to announce its rights to supply the new Nest Protect and Learning Thermostat products.

Acquired by Google in January 2014, Nest Labs is a home automation company that designs and manufactures sensor-driven, Wi-Fi enabled, self-learning programmable thermostats and smoke detectors, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect.

Nest Protect is an advanced smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm, which provides spoken alerts on what and where the problem is. Communicating with other alarms in the system even when Wi-Fi is unavailable, Nest Protect will also automatically send a message to Nest Thermostat to turn off the boiler should it sense CO.

By using an exclusive combination of sensors and algorithms, the Nest Learning Thermostat creates a personalised temperature schedule, eliminating the need for a separate programmer. It creates a custom temperature, which will automatically turn down when the thermostat senses the house is empty – dramatically saving energy.

Featuring a free application called the Nest app, users can easily retrieve information and control all Nest products while on the move from any smartphone or tablet.

Available in both mains-powered and battery formats, the new Nest range now available from WF Senate is supported by a full advertising and marketing campaign run by Nest Labs.

“This is a really exciting venture for WF Senate, as it will enable us to bring customers the very latest advances in innovative technology,” said Ivan Gill, national sales and commercial manager for Citadel.

WF Senate is one of the UK’s foremost electrical wholesalers, distributing electrical products from leading manufacturers in all electrical areas along with its in-house brands, for a total of more than 20,000 products. With instant access to stock, more than 100 branches are computer linked by an industry-leading IT system, which provides stock answers within seconds. In addition to a wide product range held in stock, WF Senate provides unrivalled technical and design advice and training schemes for customers.
