New guide simplifies smoke ventilation selection

Fire and safety specialist Be Safe Direct has launched a new guide providing details of its range of natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems and the benefits they can offer to various building types.

Created in response to growing demand for technical and regulatory information, the intuitive guide simplifies the process of selecting the right system for a number of applications, based on Approved Document B (ADB) Fire Safety Regulations.

Detailing the fire safety needs for a range of building types, it  provides system suggestions for everything from lobbied, single-stair residential buildings to larger developments and car parking areas.

For example, Be Safe Direct’s ADB unlobbied stair smoke venting system is tailored for small, single-stair residential buildings with no lobby protection, and that have no more than two apartments per floor complete with protected halls.

By taking this building-design-focused approach with its new guide, Be Safe Direct provides contractors with the reassurance of Building Regulation-approved venting performance and reliability at a highly competitive price. In addition to complete packages providing “out of the box” protection, the guide also details the Firesmart™ Control System sold exclusively through Be Safe Direct.

An intelligent, addressable control system, Firesmart™ has the ability to integrate several fire systems into a single control. Assessing the status of fire sprinklers, smoke detection, dampers, roof vents, fans and smoke ventilation and other systems, the control can streamline the monitoring of a building’s fire safety systems, allowing the quick identification of issues and providing vital information for building managers, engineers and fire services alike.

Samantha Riley at Be Safe Direct says: “Selecting the right smoke venting system is crucial for any project. By providing customers with the information needed to make an informed decision, our new guide can offer peace of mind for contractors, ensuring that their building meets fire safety standards while providing excellent value for money.”
