Jaga Heating Products UK, manufacturers of award-winning energy-efficient radiators, has released the latest additions to its range of building information modelling (BIM)-compatible product files.
The files are downloadable from Jaga’s website or directly through BIMstore, and are for the Mini Canal, Mini Canal DBE, Micro Canal, Clima Canal and Quatro Canal trench heating solutions.
Managing director Phil Marris said, “The inclusion of trench heating solutions into our BIM portfolio represents the next phase of our ongoing commitment to provide architects and engineers with all of the resources they need to quickly and accurately incorporate Jaga solutions into their projects. There will be more to come over the coming weeks and months.”
The trench heaters join Jaga’s low surface temperature, wall-mounted and freestanding radiator ranges in being fully optimised in Revit format for inclusion in BIM projects. These 3D digital rendering and data files provide architects and building services engineers with the opportunity to incorporate the most suitable heating and ventilation solutions for a project’s specific requirements.
The use of BIM software in conceptualising and executing building design is becoming increasingly prevalent in the construction design process –the government’s ambition for the compulsory use of BIM in the design of all public buildings by 2016 is testament to its growing importance.
For Jaga’s customers, incorporating HVAC BIM files into the design of the project has numerous benefits, including:
- improved co-ordination of design and project deliverables;
- collaborative working partnerships that ensure best value from project inception to completion;
- a greater understanding of the cost impact of design changes;
- faster and more efficient delivery of projects;
- whole-life asset management; and
- capital expenditure savings of approximately 15%-20% per project.
Designing and installing trench heating into a construction project necessitates consideration of how the trenches will be incorporated into the building’s design. Jaga’s trench heating BIM files allow the design team to preview the operational and aesthetic effects of these discreet heating solutions.
Jaga’s trench heating and BIM files are the first to allow the designer to choose from a wide variety of grille styles, to select exactly the length of units that best suit the building layout, incorporate angles and curves, and to automatically calculate output, flow rates and pressure drops. This functionality saves the designer time and improves design accuracy.
