Schemes announced for air conditioning inspections

The Department for Communities and Local Government has announced its approval for 12 schemes responsible for accrediting energy assessors to deliver the remaining parts of the European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD).

The accredited bodies include familiar names such as BESCA/HVCA, BRE, and CIBSE.

BESCA will provide accreditation for non-domestic work, display energy certificates, and air conditioning inspections.

BRE will provide accreditation on construction, non-domestic work, and display energy certificates, but not (for the moment at least) air conditioning inspections.

CIBSE will provide accreditation in all four categories.
