Regs changes prompt HVCA to update welding guide

HVCA Publications has launched an updated edition of its guide JS5 Welding Safety, in conjunction with the Electrical Contractors’ Association.

The 40-page portable sized booklet offers health and safety advice to building services engineers on carrying out welding work.

It identifies the potential risks and hazards associated with areas of the welding trade, covering gas, bronze, metal welding and cutting.

The booklet also defines fire precautions and offers guidance on first aid treatment.

Although the principles of welding have not changed dramatically since JS5 Welding Safety was first issued in 1978, this fourth edition has been updated to reflect amendments to health and safety regulations and improvements in the equipment available.
