The London Development Agency is looking for development partners for a site in the Albert Basin in east London’s Royal Docks.
The Gallions Quarter will be a mixed-use scheme, with over 600 new homes built to high environmental standards in a neighbourhood next to Gallions Reach DLR station.
The LDA and its partner the London Borough of Newham want to continue the development of Royal Docks, which is already home to the University of East London and the ExCeL exhibition centre.
The move demonstrates the LDA’s confidence in the residential market in London.
The LDA wants to capitalise on the transformation of east London, sparked by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
London Development Agency deputy chief executive Peter Bishop said: “With the eyes of the world on London in the run-up to the 2012 Games, we are looking for partners who share our vision for east London.
“Gallions Quarter is an exciting opportunity to build a lasting legacy. We look forward to working with a development partner to build high-quality homes and create a sustainable community.”
