The air-conditioning section of the H&VCA has recently been training Trading Standards Officers from across the UK to enforce the Air Conditioning Energy Assessment Legislation.
Last month the section completed the training of another 20 Trading Standards officers.
The legislation requires buildings with a total of 12 kW or more of air-conditioning to have an air conditioning energy assessment carried out and be available for inspection.
The officers have also been briefed on the F-Gas regulations, which require air-conditioning systems to be checked regularly for leaks.
The training was organised through the officers’ national body, the Trading Standards Institute. By the end of this year every local region will have an officer that has been trained to enforce the regulations.
Any building owners or tenants that have not had their property assessed are strongly advised to have this inspection done, as the fines can be costly.
