Government help is needed to replace old boilers

Urgent action is needed to help the domestic and commercial boiler sectors replace old and inefficient benefits in two areas.

Dear Sir,

Urgent action is needed to help the domestic and commercial boiler sectors replace old and inefficient benefits in two areas.

  • The reduction of carbon dioxide emission from condensing boilers;
  • A reduction in running costs because these boilers are more efficient so they use less gas or oil.

At the moment we have a ridiculous situation where people are encouraged to install solar photovoltaic panels and get paid a feed in tariff whilst still having an old non condensing boiler.

Any money from the electricity generated is negated by the higher cost of running these boilers. A cut in VAT to 5 per cent on all new boilers and replacements and controls would be beneficial.

Perhaps H&V News could highlight these points to the government along with all the boiler and control manufactures.
