Ziehl-Abegg celebrated the tenth year of its own production in Shanghai.
“We have been represented by a sales office in China since the 90’s and in 2002 we started industrial fabrication in Shanghai” said Ziehl-Abegg Chairman of the Board Peter Fenkl.
The German technology leader in the development of fans and motors uses that facility to meet the customers’ wishes to manufacture close to their factories in the Asian region.
In Shanghai in 2002 ten employees started with the final assembly of fans (axial fans). Two years later, impellers (centrifugal fans) were already being mounted and motors were being manufactured (winding room).
These motors were adapted specifically to the fans manufactured there. Ziehl-Abegg started machining metal in Shanghai in 2007. Motor construction for the Ziehl-Abegg drive division was added to that two years ago.
One important milestone was set this autumn when Ziehl-Abegg started the production of energy-saving EC motors in small product sizes.
That in turn will raise the number of employees to 400 by the end of the coming year; 350 people currently work at Ziehl-Abegg in China. The sales have quadrupled since 2008.
The production facility contributes ten percent to the total sales of the Ziehl-Abegg Group.
