Zero-carbon welcomed

Plans announced by housing minister Grant Shapps on achieving targets for carbon-neutral homes by giving councils and developers more flexibility have been welcomed by the House Builders Association (HBA).

HBA spokesperson Roger Humble said: “The HBA welcomes the acceptance of a carbon ‘buy-out’ fund.

“The re-examination of the 70 per cent carbon compliance metric is also the first welcome sign that the government may finally be listening to industry.”
