Westway management team complete ILM level 5 Certificate

A group of 10 managers from contractor Westway Services has completed the Institute of Leadership & Management’s Level 5 Certificate.

The employees from across the company were selected following a review and subsequent restructuring of Westway’s business, which was designed to ensure that the management team had the necessary capability and capacity to support the its rapid expansion.

The ILM Level 5 Certificate is designed for project managers, department heads and other practising middle managers to develop their strategic and practical management skills, helping them prepare for senior management responsibilities.

Commenting on his team’s 100% pass rate, managing director Andy Donnell said: “To have 10 of our team achieve such a well-recognised management standard is a fantastic achievement. The ILM Certificate provides a great platform for our employees’ personal development and plays an important role in our management and succession planning.

“The fact that three of the 10 employees have already transferred in to new roles in the business is testament to the value it adds, and we are already in the process of identifying individuals for the next course.”

Having successfully completed the ILM Certificate course, Carl Fennell said: “[It] was very interesting and delivered in an enjoyable way – it was also very challenging and gave me something to focus on.

“I hope that my learning will set me in good stead as my career moves forward, and I will try to use what I have learned to make me successful and to help develop and lead my teams.”
