A survey has found that the UK is the world’s fifth most-favoured destination for investments in the renewable energy sector.
Green Power 2011, KPMG’s annual survey of global renewable energy mergers and acquisitions, found that 33 per cent of respondents backed the UK for being the top target for deals this year.
Coming in ahead of the UK were the US with 53 per cent, China with 38 per cent, India (35 per cent) and Germany (34 per cent).
The report added: “Some 78 per cent of all survey respondents expect new players to come from China, followed by North America (59 per cent), India (42 per cent) and Western Europe (41 per cent).”
KPMG quizzed 500 global executives investors, lenders and advisers from renewable-energy industry.
The research showed the number of Asian investors looking to China and India was double that of those planning to invest in Europe.
