Survey reveals tenants at risk

The results of a survey conducted by reveals that a growing number of rented properties do not have current gas safety certificates.

Statistics show that the proportion of rented properties which have never had a certificate have risen from 22 to 26 per cent.

The survey also reveals that 61 per cent of UK tenants could be renting properties with no gas safety certificate.

This figure was reached through the combined responses of respondants stating their rented properties have an out-of-date certificate (37 per cent) and those stating they were unaware of any gas safety check being carried out in the last 12 months (24 per cent).

With Gas Safety Week currently under way, the survey is of particular interest, with an increasing number of businesses and organisations supporting the event to highlight the need for more awareness of best practice when using gas appliances.
