Recognition for Gas Safety Week grew as a variety of organisations, newspapers and radio stations showed their support.
The week started from a coverage point of view on Monday with an appearance on ITV breakfast show Daybreak by Gas Safe Register stakeholder manager Sarah Hill. Sarah spent a lot of time on Monday conducting interviews with a number of radio stations across the country. Gas Safety Week also featured on a prominent slot on the prestigious Radio 4 lunchtime consumer show ‘You and Yours’.
Coverage with the Sky News network was secured and an estimated 150 separate stations carried Gas Safety Week references.
Coverage was also secured in the Daily Mirror, Daily Record and the Daily Express.
Regional and local papers have shown their support by highlighting the events and reminding their readers of gas safety.
The Twitter world sent around the hashtag #GSW12 and many organisations re-tweeted messages from Gas Safe Register. Social media provided a huge boost with over 10,000 ‘Likes’ for their Facebook page.
Gas Safe Register chief executive Paul Johnston said: “When we decided to build on the success of last year we knew that for it to take the next step up it would need the enthusiastic support of organisations of all types and all sizes across our industry to make it work. We made that call to industry to come onboard, to pledge support, to distribute leaflets, tweet messages, to take the message out to their own staff and their own customers and they have. The response from the whole industry has been magnificent.”
