Solar developer receives 100MW of PV modules in 2014

More than 100MW of PV modules were delivered to developer Solarcentury in 2014 by Chinese manufacturer JA Solar.

The units were mainly used in Solarcentury’s ground-mounted projects and large commercial rooftops.

Some 49MW of modules will be installed at its Southwick solar farm in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Upon connection to the grid in March, the facility will become one of the largest solar farms in the country.

Chief executive Frans van den Heuvel said it was important for the company to co-operate with financially robust and reliable companies like JA Solar.

JA Solar chairman Baofang Jin added: “The UK market remains very successful for [us] and we are very proud of our relationship with Solarcentury.

“Despite an impending Renewables Obligation limit to individual PV sites over 5MW, we are still optimistic about the market in 2015.”
