RBS largest lender for renewable projects

The Royal Bank of Scotland was the biggest lender to renewable energy projects in 2011 according to a report.

Research by the Infrastructure Journal shows that RBS loaned more than £230 million for UK renewable energy projects last year, more than double that of their nearest competitor.

Furthermore, total lending across the sector rose by nearly 200 per cent compared with 2010 levels.

The 2011 total was £856m, up from £290 in the previous year
