Prompt action advised for Warm Front cash

District councils are advising residents to move quickly to take advantage of the government’s Warm Front grants.

The energy efficiency scheme offers financial assistance for insulation and heating improvements.

Eligible households can get up £3,500 to upgrade their homes, or £6,000 for those who have oil central heating.

However, the scheme’s funding has been cut following the Government’s spending review and will now be allocated on a first-come first-saved basis.

The Warm Front initiative also has a new set of eligibility criteria.

To qualify for a Warm Front grant a person must live in their own home or rent privately and their property must be assessed to have a energy efficiency SAP rating of 55 or under.
