President Bob Shelley has chaired the first meeting of the Council of B&ES – the Building & Engineering Services Association.
The announcement follows the re-positioning of the former HVCA on 1 March this year.
The re-branding was undertaken to reflect the diverse, sophisticated and complex nature of the work Association members now undertake – and the increasingly central role they play in the integration of engineering services in buildings and the incorporation of renewable technologies.
The name change is just one element in a re-positioning exercise that is enabling B&ES to provide its members with a wider range of services, enhance its influence with government, and provide a “natural home” for all building and engineering services specialists.
The decision to adopt the B&ES identity was taken, following an extensive member consultation exercise, at a special general meeting of the Association held in December last year, at which it achieved the support of over 90 per cent of the membership.
