Power-to-gas construction begins

A three-year construction project has begun in Frankfurt, Germany, to create a pilot power-to-gas pilot plant.

The project is run by the Thüga Group working in collaboration with 13 partners and is expected to see electricity being coverted into hydrogen by the end of his year.

Tests will then be conducted using the country’s gas distribution network.

The aim is to encourage the creation of a framework to enable reliability and economic operation of the technology.

The operational phase of the project will be supervised by scientific project partners and by the Hesse Ministry for Environment, Energy, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

The project partners include badenova AG & Co. KG, Erdgas Mittelsachsen GmbH, Energieversorgung Mittelrhein GmbH, erdgas schwaben gmbh, ESWE Versorgungs AG, Gasversorgung Westerwald GmbH, Mainova Aktiengesellschaft, Stadtwerke Ansbach GmbH, Stadtwerke Bad Hersfeld GmbH, Thüga Energienetze GmbH, WEMAG AG, e-rp GmbH as well as Thüga Aktiengesellschaft as project coordinator.
