Plans for solar park in Somerset

Renewable energy firm Green Energy UK Direct has revealed plans to build a solar energy park on land at Downs Farm at Dundry Downs in the village.

The 15mw photovoltaic panels will be laid out in long rows one metre off the ground running across the site, which has previously been used to graze animals.

The number of rows of panels to be used in the development has yet to be decided depending on the final site design.

The panels, which will be up to 3.6 metres tall, will each be mounted on a simple metal framework.

If the development gets the go-ahead, construction work on the solar farm is expected to take 12 weeks to complete. Energy generated would be fed into the National Grid.
