Pioneering solar firm seeks further growth

The Sheffield Star has reported renewable energy specialist A Shade Greener has signed a £50 million supply deal with one of the world’s largest producers of solar panels.

According to A Shade Greener, they are the UK’s leading installer of free solar panels, with more than 600 employees and have saved 11,000 homeowners £4.5 million on their electricity bills.

The company says it is forging ahead with its free solar energy offer despite cuts in the Government’s Feed In Tariff, which came into effect at the start of the month.

As part of that drive it is setting aside £500,000 from its £50 million contract with Shanghai-based solar panel supplier JA Solar Holdings to fund its new Find a Roof incentive scheme.

A Shade Greener founder and chairman Stewart Davies said: “It’s fantastic to be partnered with JA Solar. It is a huge company whose high-efficiency products are amongst the most powerful and cost-effective in the industry.

“It means that A Shade Greener can continue offering free solar for the foreseeable future.

“Despite the uncertainty that shrouded the Renewables industry after the drastic cuts in the FITs last October, and which resulted in virtually every other company withdrawing the supply of Free Solar, we continued.

“We’ve now installed over 11,000 free systems, and there is no reason why we can’t double that.”
