UK plumbing and heating products manufacturer Pegler Yorkshire has undertaken a review of its operations with the objective of maximising efficiency and maintaining a competitive cost base.
This is in addition to continuing to underpin its growth strategy.
The review has highlighted that in order to continue its investment programme and drive growth in new technology products, it needs to reduce its overhead structure.
Pegler Yorkshire is therefore proposing to consolidate its five manufacturing sites, which will mean the closure of its Leeds facility.
As an employer of more than 1,200 people across six sites, and having invested over £25m in Yorkshire in the past five years, Pegler Yorkshire remains committed to UK manufacture.
Consultations commenced on 23 March with trade unions, followed by meetings with up to 110 potentially affected individuals, with a view to ensuring the best outcome is found for both employees entering the consultation process and the business as a whole.
The consultation process will take up to 90 days to complete.
