Ongoing support for WorldSkills

Support for the WorldSkills initiative has been announced by Schneider Electric, in the form of sponsorship and training provision.

In addition to providing financial support for the London 2011 event, the company has also trained the UK skills representative for the electrical installation competition.

It was approached in March this year and asked to support the training of two electricians, Chris Young and Scott Wigmore, who were in the process of being short listed at the time.

The two trainees spent a week at the Schneider Electric LV equipment factory in Telford as a result.

Further support has been provided by the company in the form of equipment to be used within the electrical installation competition.

Chris Young has since been selected as the UK skills representative for electrical installations and will compete in the finals, to be held from 5 to 8 October at London’s ExCel.
