Minister and HHIC discuss alternatives to government's Heat Strategy

Representatives from the Heating & Hotwater Industry Council have met the economic secretary to the Treasury in a bid to offer an industry-backed alternative to the government’s Heat Strategy.

HHIC director Roger Webb said: “We are delighted to be meeting with the Treasury.

“We believe that the government’s heat strategy as it stands will only work if we the industry are able to deliver it and currently we don’t believe we can.

“We therefore set out to investigate how we could deliver low-carbon heating for the UK housing stock that would be both affordable and achievable and still meet the Committee on Climate Change and the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s indicative targets for CO2 emissions from the sector and look forward to sharing our ideas.”
