MARC supports National Apprenticeship Week

The Manufacturers’ Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC) is championing National Apprenticeship Week by showcasing MARC member Barry Lynch, a former apprentice.

Now Rettig ICC sales & marketing director for the UK and Ireland, Mr Lynch started his apprenticeship in 1994.

He said: “I started an apprenticeship as it provided me with an opportunity to continue with further education while gaining work experience. I chose to study a generic business a finance course while I decided what career I wanted to pursue.

“Being an apprentice taught me a lot. Since leaving school I have spent 11 years pursuing further education. Nine years of this were via part-time study while working, which requires a great deal of commitment. The organisation I work for has supported me tremendously throughout and has funded all of my further education.”

Mr Lynch said his apprenticeship also provided him with leadership skills and added: “It is all about the people and the team. It is critically important that you have the right people; this is where we aim to gain an advantage over our competitors. I take great pleasure in seeing individuals develop and progress through our organisation and achieve positions that they never thought they would reach.”
