Kier begins appeal against £17.9m OFT fine

Kier is in court today appealing against its £17.9 million fine from the Office of Fair Trading.

The contractor was handed a fine of £17,894,438 last September for three infringements relating to cover pricing.

It was by far the hardest hit of the 103 firms that were fined a total of £129.5m by the OFT following a five-year investigation in to cover pricing in the industry.

Kier will seek a reduction in the fine, claiming that its impact is excessive and/or discriminatory.
