Dutch-built domestic boiler business to be part of Rheem’s Global Water Division
International heating business Paloma Rheem Global Inc has bought Intergas, the Dutch manufacturer of domestic boilers. The move gives Rheem a stronger platform in the European market.
Intergas will be part of Rheem’s Global Water Division and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Paloma Rheem Global, Inc. Its headquarters will remain in Coevorden, Netherlands and the Intergas brand name will remain unchanged.
Along with being the brand leader in the Netherlands for condensing boilers, Intergas claims a ’growing market share’ in the UK, and has fast-growing subsidiaries in Canada and the United States via its IBC brand. The company won an H&V News Award in 2016 for its boiler technology.
Rheem is headquartered in Atlanta and builds commercial boilers and water heaters alongside commercial refrigeration products. Rheem claims brand leadership in water heating in the US, with products available in more than 50 countries; the company’s portfolio of brands includes: Rheem, Raypak, Ruud, Eemax, EcoSmart, Richmond, Splendid, Solahart and EverHot.
Chris Peel, president and CEO of Paloma Rheem Global said: “The addition of Intergas into the Rheem family of brands increases the breadth of our boiler and water heating offerings, while also providing Rheem with competitive solutions to meet consumer demands in Europe. Both Rheem and Intergas also proudly foster cultures of inclusion, and our organisations have a shared commitment to innovating all-new products that create a meaningful and positive environmental impact.”
Stephen Zouch, md of Intergas UK added: “We are delighted to be joining Rheem at this very exciting time for our brand’s development in the UK. Rheem understands our core business and its leadership is committed to long-term growth plans for Intergas. We look forward to accelerating product innovations together with Rheem and expanding into new markets and regions in the future.”
