Immediate gas safety checks needed at 927 homes

Council chiefs are calling for immediate gas safety checks after 927 homes across Redditch were found to be overdue an inspection, the Redditch Standard has reported.

Concerns were raised by officers when they could not access a number of homes where gas safety certificates were due to or had expired.

Following a report to the housing regulator, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Redditch Borough Council is now contacting over 900 tenants to arrange an immediate gas safety check.

Although no incidents have been reported and council records show annual checks have been completed at 5,000 other homes, tenants who have been contacted should text 07860 033 651, contact the council by email or call 01527 548267 as soon as possible to arrange this essential safety testing.

Residents who have not yet heard from the council will be contacted two months prior to their next inspection due date.
