January’s magazine focuses on how industry has been bracing for the potential of another ‘Beast from the East’ cold snap, as well as carrying an in-depth look at the recent Energy Awards
The first H&V News of 2019 looks at the lessons that may have been learnt by industry from adverse cold that saw widespread disruption to a number of boilers due to external condensate pipes freezing during a brief period last winter.
With temperatures once again dipping, we look at the initiatives being undertaken to prevent a similar number of call-outs, as well as the challenges in tackling an ongoing reliance in some properties on external pipes that are at risk of freezing in adverse cold.
In other news, we look at a new government consultation hoping to regulate heat network use and service provision, as well as the latest commitments intended to try and address late payments in the UK construction industry.
The issue also carries an in-depth look at the 2018 Energy Awards and some of the winning innovations and initiatives devised to face up to demand for less carbon intensive technologies.
