Housing association tenants left without heating

Tenants of a Glaswegian housing association have been left without central heating throughout winter, the Scottish Daily Record has reported.

Shettleston Housing Association has reportedly failed to fix back-up systems that crashed in the middle of December, leaving homes without heating in Glenalmond Street.

Sixteen homes have also seen their electricity bills surge after residents were given storage heaters to compensate for their radiators not working.

Shettleston Housing Association director Chris Cunningham, admitted the geothermal heating system had failed. He said that a new part had been ordered that they hoped would be fitted this week, which would fix the issue.

He also said customers would be compensated for the rise in their heating bills.
