Heat pumps added to RAC group

The B&ES, which changed its name from HVCA earlier this year, has revised its Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Group.

As part of continued updates to reflect ongoing changes within the building services industry, the association’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Group will now be known as the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Group.

Scott Gleed, the group’s chairman, stated that members had believed that the growing popularity of heat pumps should be reflected in the title for some time.

“The thermodynamic principles associated with heat pump technology are closely aligned with those relating to refrigeration and air conditioning, so that the relevant skills and expertise already exist within the group.

“This needs to be made clear to end users and clients,” said Mr Gleed.

The name change was approved by the B&ES Council in July last year and ratified at the annual general meeting of the group, which was held at Trinity House, London EC3, on Thursday 3 May.
