Gas customers warned to check their appliances

Gas customers are being urged to make sure that their appliances, and the tradespeople they hire to install or maintain them, are safe and fit for purpose, Gloucestershire Echo has reported.

Gas Safe Register chief executive Russell Krämer said: “Every year, far too many people suffer from preventable gas-related accidents, such as gas leaks, explosions, fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

“It’s great, therefore, that Naylor Powell has pledged its support and is raising awareness of gas safety issues, helping to let the 23 million gas consumers in the UK know about the simple checks they can make to stay safe.”

James Birt, partner at Naylor Powell, said: “We manage over 500 properties across Gloucestershire and have always held the safety of tenants paramount. Every property managed by us which has a gas appliance will be checked annually by a Gas Safe engineer to ensure they are safe to operate.”
