Foreign investment in UK renewable energy projects increases

According to the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Inward Investment Annual Report, the UK has strengthened its position as the lead country for foreign direct investment.

The report claims there has been a significant rise in energy and infrastructure projects this year, with the number of investments in this industry group rising by nearly a quarter in 2013-14.

These investments are estimated to have brought with them a total of 31,261 jobs, the second largest after the advanced manufacturing group.

Sixty-one renewable energy projects attracted backing from overseas, up from 46 in 2012-13.
