EUA responds to G7 energy ministers' statement

“There is no quick fix,” says chief executive Mike Foster following the meeting of the G7 energy ministers in Rome.

He added: “Energy security is not a new concept we have been discussing it for many years, but the time for talking has now passed. We need to start taking the necessary steps that will help the UK become less dependent on gas supplies from overseas – energy supply should not be used against other nations.

“We need more UK gas storage to protect us against fluctuations in supply and price hikes, we need investment in shale production, we need to diversify using renewable technologies to compliment traditional energy generating methods and of course we simply need to use less energy via more efficiency methods.”
