Estuary Housing Association has appointed Lovell Repairs and Maintenance to provide repairs services to its stock of over 3,900 homes in Essex, Greater London and Suffolk.
The new contract, which starts on 1 July 2014, is worth £22m in total turnover over five years and was awarded to national maintenance specialist Lovell following a competitive tendering process.
Lovell will provide full responsive and planned maintenance services for residents, delivering a 24-hour, 365 day-a-year, reactive repairs service, planned maintenance programmes and carrying out work to refurbish void properties.
Estuary has homes in all 14 local authorities in Essex as well as in the London boroughs of Havering, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham and in the Suffolk Coastal region.
These include general-needs affordable housing, sheltered and supported housing, leasehold and market rent properties.
Lovell will run DIY workshops for residents – giving them the chance to learn basic practical skills – as well as sessions giving tenants advice on subjects such as energy efficiency around the home.
The contract will also include the introduction of a new “handyperson” service for sheltered and supported housing tenants, and other vulnerable residents, providing them with help with household tasks.
