Energy minister witnesses Hartlepool focus on renewable energy

Department of Energy minister Charles Hendry recently visited the port of Hartlepool to witness a number of renewable energy developments.

As well as a wind energy site, it hosts Heerema Fabrication Group and JDR Cable Systems, who both offer renewable energy product and services.

David Robinson, CEO of PD Ports Group, of which Hartlepool is a member, said the government must set out details of Renewables Obligation Certificates (ROCs).

“There is a major reluctance to invest in this sector until the government sets the level for ROCs,” he said, before adding: “[This]causes great uncertainty in the market.”
