Electrical Contractors’ Association director of business services Paul Reeve has announced the association “fully supports” the H&V News campaign for retention funds in construction contracts to be placed in trust funds in the future.
Mr Reeve said: “We will be encouraging our members and others to sign”.
Jaga also announced its support earlier this week for our campaign, with a spokesperson adding: “As a company fully dedicated to serving the needs of the contractor community, Jaga supports H&V News in proposing that legislation should be introduced requiring all funds identified as retentions within construction industry project contracts be placed in a trust fund in future.”
Industry associations that have already pledged their support include the B&ES, SEC Group, APHC, ICOM, BEAMA and FETA.
Our e-petition requires 100,000 signatures to drive a parliamentary debate on retentions.
There is a further degree of urgency surrounding this, as all online petitions will be closed at the end of March next year in preparation for the general election.
H&V News is therefore urging all readers to sign the petition as soon as they are able, then discuss the campaign with their colleagues, industry contacts and associations to ensure the message is spread as widely as possible.
The directors of A1 Flue Systems are also encouraging their industry contacts to approach their local Chamber of Commerce to encourage more people to pledge their support.
