East Midlands considered best performing region

The results from RBS’s Regional Growth Tracker were the lead business story on this morning’s BBC Breakfast News, with encouraging figures suggesting that, outside of London, the East Midlands was the best-performing English region in the first half of 2014.

This comes at a time when the UK is continuing to show strong signs of growth following the economic downturn.

The BBC visited A1 Flue Systems to film the company manufacturing commercial flue systems to produce a case study of an East Midlands company.

As well as getting lots of film of flues being made, they interviewed director TJ Moir. Ms Moir spoke about how A1’s order book continues to buck the construction industry trend, with a 30% increase in the last quarter as a result of securing orders for larger projects.

She also talked about how important it is for businesses like A1 to attract the right staff, ensure they receive on-going training and develop the niche industry skills required for growth.

A1 was featured twice – once at 6.50am and then again at 7.50am.
