Leading UK commercial gas supplier DONG Energy Sales is to sponsor the 2012 Energy Awards.
The company, which was formerly Shell Gas Direct, will sponsor the Energy Buyer of the Year category at this year’s awards, which recognises the excellent work taking place across the industry.
The winners will be celebrated at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on Wednesday 5 December.
With an 11 per cent share of the UK Industrial and Commercial market, DONG Energy Sales supplies natural gas to customers across a diverse range of sectors including manufacturing, the public sector, national retail, and energy-intensive industries.
The company was formed in May 2012 through the acquisition of Shell Gas Direct by Danish utility company DONG Energy.
The business recently achieved the No.1 ranking for customer service for a record seventh consecutive time in the twice-yearly Datamonitor survey of industrial and commercial gas customers.
The Energy Buyer of the year award recognises a company’s ability to devise and implement a purchasing strategy that manages energy prices in a controllable manner while achieving below budget costs for gas and electricity procurement.
Mike Hogg, managing director of DONG Energy Sales, and one of the judges for the awards, said: “Energy procurement is crucial to businesses of all types and size, and those that develop a comprehensive understanding and strategy make the best decisions in this area.
“We’re committed to working closely with our customers to find the energy solution that best meets their business needs, while helping to reduce costs and consumption.
“This award celebrates the truly excellent work that is taking place across business in energy procurement and we’re very proud to sponsor this award.”
