Climate change represents an ‘innovation challenge’

UK business should embrace the environment as an innovation challenge, as opposed to a threat, according to Bosch UK president Peter Fouquet.

Speaking at the Bosch Forum at the House of Lords last month, he stated his company regarded the environment as a key driver of future profitability. Mr Fouquet said Bosch is making considerable investment in environmental technology. “We currently invest 45 per cent of our research and development budget in technologies that help protect the environment and conserve resources,” he said.

Professor David Mackay, the government’s chief scientific adviser, highlighted the cost issue as a barrier to entry for consumers.
