Climate change award for support services provider

The City of London Corporation presented Spie UK with the Tackling Climate Change at The Sustainable City Awards recently.

The initiative has been established to recognise and reward UK organisations and promote outstanding achievements and innovation across all aspects of sustainability.

Multi-technical and support services company Spie UK states that it has placed energy reduction as a vital part of its service offerings to the built environment for more than 30 years.

It has worked on major projects including PFI hospitals, airports, educational establishments, commercial and infrastructure.

Energy reduction has been incorporated into high profile examples including Heathrow’s Terminal 5, West Thames College and Transport for London’s Palestra Building.

The company reports it has established its Green Economy Programme, which has seen the roll out of a ‘common language’, encouraging development of the work culture, carbon footprinting for clients and more sustainable procurement channels supporting our low energy design capability.

Chief executive officer James Thoden van Velzen said: “It is great to have won this prestigious award for the Climate Change category. As SPIE UK employees we must all continue to play our part in the Green Economy.”
