Clean Air Strategy opens door for HVAC industry to make an impact on IAQ

Consultation seeks input on reducing pollution indoors as well as out

The Clean Air Strategy consultation offers a number of opportunities for the HVAC industry to provide input, and leaves the door open for its technology to mitigate the effects of pollution indoors. Whilst the consultation document appears to miss an opportunity by not emphasising the phrase Indoor Air Quality, its focus on areas which impact indoor pollution, notably VOCs, provide an opportunity for ventilation and AC firms to offer solutions.

The proposal to introduce a voluntary labelling scheme for Non-Methane VOCs and to work with industry to ensure consumers make informed choices will increase emphasis on the need for ventilation where VOCs are used - whether that is mechanical or non-mechanical.
