CIOB launches survey into ageing population

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has launched its Ageing Population Survey as part of a drive to update existing research on the subject.

It said an ageing population presented a number of challenges and opportunities for the construction industry.

Knowledge of the ageing population and its effects has the potential to change the nature of the workforce and positively influence both building design and standards.

Senior policy and public affairs manager Eddie Tuttle said: “With the findings and report set to follow in due course, the key question for construction is what lessons the industry has learned, and, what lessons construction can take from other industries in order to improve the diversity of its workforce, and address the skills shortages and the accessibility of the built environment.”

The survey is set to close on Monday, 22 June. Respondents that complete the survey will have the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire 6” HD tablet.
