Chris Sneath awarded MBE for industry services

Chris Sneath, who served two terms as president of the Building & Engineering Services Association (then the HVCA), has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his outstanding service to the heating and plumbing sectors.

Mr Sneath is the only president of the Association since the Second World War to have served two separate terms of office, in 1990/91 and 1996/97.

In the early 1990s, he played a pivotal role in the Latham Review of procurement in the construction industry, which led to the introduction of contracts legislation which provides protections of particular value to specialist and sub-contractors.

Mr Sneath has also served as deputy chairman of the Construction Industry Board, founding chairman of the Plumbing and Heating Industry Alliance and, in 2009/10, Master of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers.

Chris Sneath is currently chairman of WaterSafe, which is committed to contributing to the safety of drinking water supplies through the development of a national approval scheme for plumbers and associated installers.
