B&ES examines party manifestos

The B&ES has examined the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat manifestos, in which they explain their policy intentions if elected on Thursday (7 May).

Its analysis focused on the four main issues of relevance to B&ES members: the economy, housing, the environment and immigration.

One key policy area from which members can take encouragement is that each of the parties is committed to building at least 200,000 new homes a year.

What the analysis does not touch on, however, is which policies are set firmly in stone and which might fall away or be compromised in the event of another coalition.

Whatever the outcome, B&ES will be keeping a close watch on the next government and will keep members informed on the implications for their businesses.
