BEAMA calls for Budget to address building services industry

BEAMA’s independent Ask for Underfloor campaign has called for the Chancellor to outline some measures in the Budget to boost the building, renovation and construction industry

Campaign spokesperson Chris Ingram said: “With the election looming, is it expected that George Osborne won’t announce anything too drastic in the Budget, but we would welcome any effortsto loosen the purse strings and give people the confidence to start spending.

“House prices are at a record level of unaffordability as demand outweighs supply and the average house price has increased by 10%. We would support calls for the government to address this issue, and help to provide the 250,000 additional homes that are needed each year. Moreover, new homes need to be built and sold at an affordable price for the average person.”

Mr Ingram added the Ask for Underfloor campaign hoped George Osborne would also make announcements around renewable energy.
