Another M&E firm goes under

Hills Building Services has become the latest M&E contractor to go under after it entered voluntary liquidation.

Stephen Katz, of insolvency firm David Rubin & Partners, has been appointed as liquidator for the firm which has been wound up and a creditors meeting took place for the company earlier this month.

Originally part of Hills Electrical, Hills Building Services was sold in 2008 to the Lowe Group, a £30m M&E-based company which has a number of M&E subsidiaries.

Hills Building Services have worked for clients in London including Marks and Spencer, Stanhope, Prudential, Standard Life and Land Securities on schemes ranging in value from £1m to £6m, as well as with contractors including Mitie and Lend Lease.

Bromsgrove-based electrical contractors AG Shakespeare, in operation since 1998, ceased trading last week.

Administrators were appointed to Leeds-based Airedale Mechanical & Electrical with 135 jobs lost in July.
