53MW of Cambridgeshire solar plants get green light

Solar park operator Lightsource Renewable Energy has obtained planning permission to build 53MW of solar parks in Cambridgeshire.

The approval was granted by Cambridgeshire County Council.

Lightsource Renewable Energy will construct two photovoltaic facilities within the parish of Melbourn. Once operational, the plants will produce enough power to supply over 15,500 local homes.

As part of the projects, it will install more than 40 bird and bat nesting boxes to enhance the region’s biodiversity. Planting of hedgerows, shrubs and trees will also be part of the measures.
